About the Maker

As a ceramic artist, I am ever-inspired by the luscious and malleable nature of basic but endlessly-expressive earth ingredients—clay, pigment & brush stroke, texture &  fire!—with which I create hand-crafted functional and decorative forms that spring from my sense of connection to the cycles of nature, and the mystery of our meanderings in this wide cosmos! That is a pretty tall order to put into a ceramic piece, and you are not likely to see it “literally”. But my inspiration is seeded into each piece and I hope it shines through as you use it, bringing you joy.

I work in a small studio in the mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, elevation 8,300 feet, in the Rocky Mountains west of the Boulder/Denver metro areas. I’m not sure one can get much closer to the natural world! I share it with the stars at night, the summer wildflowers, the ever-changing flow of water and ice in mountain streams, the gusty breezes formed by peaks jutting into the atmosphere and stirring up the clouds; and the unpredictable visits of bear and moose and lions and foxes and birds and field mice. Add to that mixture a dog, a cat, tending vegetable & flower gardens, and my endlessly-supportive family who have stopped bothering to point out the clay in my hair, and you get a pretty good picture of my daily inspirations.

Welcome to my online store of hand-crafted expressions. I work tirelessly to make sure that my craftsmanship matches my high expectations for all that I imagine and create! I hope you will find something that you enjoy.
